New Jersey-based land-use consultancy Dresdner Robin announced that its project, the Canopy Hotel, has won a ULI Northern New Jersey Excellence Award for best hospitality project. Award winners are recognized for transformational land-use developments, best practices and creative visioning. The firm provided surveying, civil engineering and landscape architectural design services for the complex, which opened in late 2021 in the Powerhouse Arts District of the gold coast of Jersey City.  The development, located in a FEMA flood zone, required flood mitigation measures and stormwater management systems that were evaluated and developed by Dresdner Robin. The firm also provided flood certifications, construction survey layout control, and streetscape and site lighting design. “This project transformed a previously vacant and unsightly lot,” said Dresdner Robin’s Mark Vizzini, the Associate Director of Land Development. “It was engineered and designed to keep true to the neighborhood’s industrial and arts-based past. And, with the precision and detail that went into the structure, it has become an anchor for the Powerhouse Arts District, so we’re thrilled to see the recognition it deserves.” The Canopy Hotel, located at 159 Morgan Street, is situated along the former industrial and manufacturing corridor of the Powerhouse Arts District. Within the last 6 years, the area has been redeveloped to include high-rise luxury residential, office space, and arts-centered construction projects, several of which Dresdner Robin has contributed to. The ULI Northern New Jersey Awards for Excellence, widely known as the most prestigious by the real estate and land use industry, began in 1979 to recognize superior development efforts in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Winning projects represent the highest standards of achievement in the development industry. Finalists and winners are selected by the ULI jury, which represents a range of panelists from various geographic locations and many areas of real estate and land use expertise, including finance, planning, development, public affairs, design, and professional services, among others. Project partners of the Canopy Hotel include Panepinto Properties, The Kabr Group, Three Wall Capital and Greentree Construction. Along with a bar and bistro located at the ground level, the hotel includes 1,400 square feet of meeting space, a 24-hour fitness studio and guest areas for live events. An outdoor terrace with seating and a green wall for seasonal plantings is also available, which was designed by Dresdner Robin’s team of landscape architects. D2L Inc. Announces First Quarter Fiscal 2023 Financial Results & Updated Outlook

Total revenue grows 21% for Q1 to US$41.9 million Annual Recurring Revenue increases 17%, reaching US$159.3 million at quarter end Gross profit increases 26% to $26.4 million TORONTO, June 08, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- D2L Inc. (TSX:DTOL) ("D2L" or the "Company"), a global learning technology company, today announced financial results for its fiscal 2023 first quarter ended April 30, 2022. All amounts are in U.S. dollars and all figures are prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) unless otherwise indicated. "We continue to see a healthy demand environment as more schools, universities and businesses invest in online learning and digitizing the classroom," said John Baker, President and CEO of D2L. "Against this backdrop, it was a solid start to fiscal 2023, highlighted by 21% revenue growth and a 26% gross profit increase, with gross margin improvements materializing at a faster pace. Each month, we are adding important new customers while continuing to strengthen the value proposition for users through our investments in platform enhancements." "Our conversations with academic and business leaders reinforce the pressing need for investments in better learning technology. During past economic cycles, our business has benefited from the resilience of our end markets, and our expectation is that investments in improving learning outcomes will be largely unaffected by the macroeconomic conditions. In the corporate setting, labour market tightness is emphasizing the importance of onboarding and upskilling," added Mr. Baker. Mr. Baker continued: "As we work to capture this demand, it has taken us more time than expected to build our own sales and marketing capacity globally – primarily as a result of the war for talent that most of the technology industry is currently experiencing. While we continue scaling, this shift in timing has affected our revenue growth outlook for fiscal 2023. With the addition of our new COO, I am happy to report that we have made good progress improving our operational efficiencies. The net effect is we now forecast a delay in revenue growth for fiscal 2023 and a reduced EBITDA loss for the year. The fundamentals of the business are strong and we are on a faster path to profitability." First Quarter Fiscal 2023 Financial Highlights Total revenue of $41.9 million, up 21% from the comparative period in the prior year. Annual Recurring Revenue2 increased by $23.3 million or 17% year-over-year to $159.3 million as at April 30, 2022, compared with $136.0 million as at April 30, 2021. Subscription and support revenue of $35.8 million, an increase of 17% over the prior year, primarily attributable to the growth in new customers. Professional services and other revenue of $6.1 million, up 54% from the same period of the prior year. The increase was driven by several significant new customer implementations and content development work for new and existing customers. Gross Profit of $26.4 million (62.9% of revenue), an increase of 26% from Gross Profit of $20.9 million (60.5% of revenue) in the prior year. Adjusted EBITDA1 loss of $1.5 million, compared to Adjusted EBITDA loss of $0.1 million for the comparative period in the prior year. Loss for the period decreased to $4.8 million, compared with a loss for the period of $34.4 million in the same quarter of the prior year. The year-over-year improvement was largely the result of the $32.3 million fair value loss on the redeemable convertible preferred shares that was recognized in the prior period, with no corresponding impact in the current period. Cash flow used in operating activities improved 23% year over year to $15.3 million, versus $19.8 million in the prior year, and Free Cash Flow1 for Q1 improved to negative $16.2 million, compared with negative $19.9 million in the prior year. Cash flows from operations generally have a seasonal low in the first quarter each year and a seasonal high in the second quarter each year, due to the contractual timing of annual invoicing with the Company's Higher Education customers located in the United States. Strong balance sheet at quarter end, with cash of $98.1 million and no debt. 1 A non-IFRS financial measure or non-IFRS ratio. Financial Outlook The Company updated its previous guidance for the 12 months ended January 31, 2023 to reflect lower revenue growth and reduced Adjusted EBITDA loss. Specifically, for fiscal 2023 the Company is expecting: Total revenue in the range of $175 million to $178 million, implying growth of 15% to 17% over the year ended January 31, 2022 (rather than our previous guidance of total revenue in the range of $179 million to $182 million, implying growth of 18% to 20% over the same period); and Adjusted EBITDA loss in the range of $9 million to $11 million (rather than our previous guidance of Adjusted EBITDA loss in the range of $12 million to $14 million). D2L continues to see strong market demand for learning platforms across its education (higher education and K-12) and corporate markets, consistent with its view entering fiscal 2023. With so many organizations at the early stages of digital adoption, D2L remains well positioned to help potential customers replace legacy technology and experiences. The change in the expected revenue growth for fiscal 2023 mainly reflects the time required to ramp up the Company's sales and marketing teams, as well as the impact of changes in foreign exchange rates, particularly the strengthening U.S. dollar. In addition, the Company is now expecting a lower Adjusted EBITDA loss in fiscal 2023, reflecting disciplined cost optimization and a strategic prioritization of our investments, thereby putting us on an accelerated path to profitability. Kellyanne Conway says she was "caught off guard" when Trump asked her to be his White House press secretary after the 2016 election

"I did not share Trump's appraisal of my skills in that regard," she wrote. "I was often on message but also off script, because there was no script." Former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway.AP Photo/Andrew Harnik Kellyanne Conway says she was "caught off guard" by Trump asking her to be his press secretary. In her new book, Conway detailed how Trump offered her the role after he won the 2016 election. "Fielding questions from the press corps in the White House Briefing Room held zero appeal to me," she wrote. Election night in November 2016 was a whirlwind experience for Donald Trump's campaign team, who had worked feverishly to send him to the White House despite most political observers predicting a win by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.Throughout the latter part of the 2016 race, Kellyanne Conway — the veteran pollster who managed the former president's 2016 presidential campaign — would become one of the most visible Republican surrogates on the trail. After the race was called for Trump, the newly-minted president-elect took note of Conway's huge sacrifice to his campaign as the GOP celebrated at the New York Hilton Midtown Manhattan hotel, which she detailed in her memoir, "Here's the Deal.""Ducking into a quiet corner of the hotel lobby, away from the reporters and victory party stragglers still eager to buttonhole me, I assured Trump that I would handle the round robin of ten TV interviews scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. I would get to the studio inside Trump Tower at 5:30, I said. I'd be talking. He'd be watching. Neither one of us would be sleeping," she wrote.Amid the excitement, Trump offered Conway one of the most public-facing roles of his administration."You have to be press secretary," he said in that moment.Conway, known for her willingness to speak on behalf of Trump on cable television, was unprepared for such an offer."I was caught off guard by that. White House press secretary is one of the most coveted posts under any president. Massive international media exposure. A box seat to history in the making. A fine launch into the next chapter of life. I politely deflected," she wrote."We'll discuss it later," she replied to Trump. He responded: "You'd be so good at that."But Conway didn't think the role played to her strengths."I'd be a terrible press secretary, I thought to myself, gently shaking my head," she wrote. She continued: "Contrary to his flattering assertion, I did not share Trump's appraisal of my skills in that regard. In my view, I was often on message but also off script, because there was no script. I also didn't want to reflexively slide into the communications (or scheduling) jobs that women often filled, especially given the trust and authority he'd already invested in me in a management and leadership role."Conway said the thought of continually working in the briefing room wasn't appealing."Foxholes weren't my natural habitat. Fielding questions from the press corps in the White House Briefing Room held zero appeal to me, no matter how prestigious the title or large the fame," she wrote. She added: "As a pollster, I'd spent my entire career asking the questions and listening to the answers — not the other way around. If a CEO or politician wanted to know how a product or a platform would play in Peoria, I was the one who eagerly hopped on a plane to go find out, then connected the dots for them, with the voice of the people, not my own voice, leading the analysis."Conway would go on to serve in the West Wing for the bulk of Trump's term in office, leaving the press secretary role to Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany.Read the original article on Business Insider.....»»

The renovation transformed a Class B building to one of the finest, fully modernized, pre-war Class A buildings in Lower Manhattan. “This major win would not have been achieved without the help of our creative and innovative ownership team, and the execution of our management team, who work so hard every day to sustain the standard,” said Chirstopher Gildea, General Manager, Property Management at JLL. 101 Greenwich is owned by BentallGreenOak and Cove Property Group; and managed by JLL. Turner Multifamily Impact Fund I (TMIF I) has been honored with the first-ever Social Impact ESG Award from the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), highlighting the Fund’s success in developing a scalable, market-driven solution to preserve thousands of units of affordable workforce housing while generating strong returns for investors. Managed by Turner Impact Capital, one of the nation’s largest real estate investment firms dedicated to social impact, TMIF I was selected by a panel of independent judges due to its track record of excellence in harnessing market forces to address a critical social challenge – America’s severe and growing housing crisis – while simultaneously driving consistent financial returns. “Turner Impact Capital is thrilled for PREA’s first-ever Social Impact ESG Award to honor Turner Multifamily Impact Fund I. We’re proud to be addressing America’s severe housing crisis by acquiring and preserving thousands of units of workforce housing nationwide while achieving superior financial performance enabling us to scale our impact,” said Turner Impact Capital CEO Bobby Turner. “This recognition by PREA is tremendous validation of our firm’s core mission: to create positive change through market-driven solutions to some of our nation’s greatest challenges.” A total of 47 real estate funds were evaluated for the five categories of PREA’s ESG awards, which were developed to recognize PREA members at the forefront of ESG within real estate investing and to provide the industry with examples of best practices in the field. The award was presented on Wednesday evening at a gala event held at the Beverly Hilton hotel. “This year PREA introduced the Social Impact category to our PREA ESG Awards, and I can think of no more deserving winner of the inaugural PREA Social Impact ESG Award than the Turner Multifamily Impact Fund,” said PREA President Gail Haynes. “Turner Impact Capital has shown throughout its history that real estate investors can both earn returns and create positive and lasting impacts on the communities they serve. Turner Impact has been a pioneer in finding ways to use private, return-seeking capital to address societal issues, and we are proud to be able to recognize their leadership.” Since its launch in 2016, TMIF I has acquired 22 properties across the United States, preserving the affordability of nearly 8,000 units of workforce housing occupied by more than 13,000 residents in high- demand metropolitan areas. Residents include community-serving professionals such as teachers, police officers, healthcare workers and others who often earn too much to qualify for subsidized housing but too little to afford higher-cost housing near their workplaces. The success of TMIF I led to a successor fund, TMIF II, which closed in December 2020. To date, the two Funds have acquired over 11,200 units and are on course to preserve nearly $2 billion in naturally occurring affordable workforce housing. Through the firm’s dedicated property management company, the Funds have also enriched these communities with over 150,000 hours of targeted resident enrichment services, including afterschool homework help, healthcare access and fitness activities, neighborhood watch programs, and more. Participants give a 98 percent satisfaction rate to these programs, which have increased resident tenure by a factor of 1.6 versus non-program participants. The Turner Multifamily Impact Funds are a core component of Turner Impact Capital’s holistic approach to social impact investing. The firm has raised nearly $1.5 billion in capital from a diverse group of institutional investors, on course to surpass more than $5 billion in investment potential while directly impacting some 150,000 lives in underserved communities throughout the United States. By harnessing market forces, the firm’s investments are sustainable, scalable, and durable – improving lives and strengthening communities while earning strong financial returns. Turner Impact Capital also manages the Turner-Agassi Education Facilities Funds to facilitate the development of best-in-class schools in underserved communities across the United States, as well as the Turner Healthcare Facilities Fund, which delivers community-serving healthcare facilities to proven healthcare providers while improving access to quality care for residents of low- and moderate-income urban communities. 2022 NACTOY Awards in Focus: Ford (F) Takes Home 2 Honors

While Ford (F) scores twin victories with the Maverick pickup and the Bronco utility vehicle, the Honda Civic bags the Car of the Year award. It’s that time of the year when automotive companies, motorheads, and industry watchers alike eagerly wait for the winners of the prestigious NACTOY (North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year) Awards. Finally, the wait is over. The results of the 2022 NACTOY Awards were announced yesterday. An independent jury of 50 automotive journalists determined the winners from the three finalists in each category (car, truck and utility vehicle) released in November.Check Out the WinnersIt was a big day for Ford F as the U.S. auto giant won two of the three awards. Ford Maverick was named as 2022 Truck of the Year while Ford Bronco took the Utility Vehicle of the Year honor. Meanwhile, Japan’s auto biggie Honda’s HMC popular Honda Civic claimed the Car of the Year win, beating the other two finalists Lucid Air and Volkswagen Golf. The all-new Honda Civic, redesigned for the 2022 model year, is the 11th generation of America’s most popular compact car. Honda has produced around 11 million Civics in North America (more than 45% of that number in the United States). Per media sources, the jury was impressed by the vehicle’s fuel efficiency, affordability, reliability and the fact that it is a fun ride. It should be noted that this was the third NACTOY Award for Honda Civic, with the 8th and the 10th generation Civic models winning in 2006 and 2016, respectively.Ford Maverick topped the other truck finalists — the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Rivian R1T. Ford began deliveries of Maverick in September and sold 13,258 units of the same in 2021. Meanwhile, Bronco beat fellow finalists — Genesis GV70 and Hyundai IONIQ 5 — in the utility vehicle category. Deliveries of Bronco commenced in June, with Ford having sold 35,023 units last year.It was the second consecutive year that Ford took home two of the three coveted NACTOY Awards. Last year, Ford claimed top utility and truck wins for Mustang Mach-E and F-150, respectively. The automaker’s focus on transforming its vehicle lineup by focusing more on bigger, more profitable and popular vehicles like SUVs and trucks seems to be paying off. F currently carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.EV Finalists at the 2022 NACTOY AwardsWhile no electric vehicle (EV) won the crown this year, it marked the first time that each category included a green vehicle among the finalists, underscoring the fact that the auto industry is fast advancing toward an e-mobility future. The EV models that made through the list of finalists were Rivian’s RIVN R1T truck, Lucid Motors’ LCID luxury electric car Lucid Air and Hyundai Motors’ all-electric midsize CUV Hyundai Ioniq 5.Rivian— the first company to bring an e-pickup to the consumer market— had unveiled prototypes of the all-electric R1T truck at the LA Auto Show in late 2018 and started deliveries of the same in September 2021. In fact, last month, MotorTrend named Rivian R1T the Truck of the Year, calling it “the most remarkable pickup truck we've ever driven.” The vehicle, however, failed to claim the NACTOY Truck of the Year award.EV startup Lucid Motors, which went public in June 2021, announced in September that the company had thus far received more than 13,000 reservations for the vehicle. LCID claimed that its Lucid Air model received the longest EPA range rating for any electric car — 520 miles on a single recharge. The company began the deliveries of Lucid Air in late October.Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the latest all-electric offering by the South Korea-based auto manufacturer, Hyundai. Last summer, Hyundai launched Ioniqbrand, dedicated entirely to EVs. The company confirmed launching three new electric cars under the brand within the next four years, beginning with the Ioniq 5, followed by Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7. With a 350-kW charger, Ioniq 5 can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The vehicle emits zero tailpipe emissions and offers a driving range of up to 481 km. Built on a cutting-edge new platform, cool design and driving dynamics, Hyundai claims Ioniq 5 to be a ground-breaking electric CUV, delivering a thrilling performance. But Gas-Powered Vehicles Rule the ShowWhile EV finalists made their way to the runners up position, none of the three models could get the trophy home. It was the ICE vehicles that made a clean sweep. It would probably take another year for the green vehicles to rule the award show, with various new models across all categories set to hit the market in 2022. But the fact that the 2022 NACTOY Awards had an EV finalist in each category is encouraging and marks a step in the right direction.Quoting NACTOY president Gary Witzenburg “2021 has been a highly significant year in automotive history. We have seen ground-breaking and appealing new electric vehicles from almost every brand along with the emergence of new vehicle segments and impressive redesigns of familiar models.” Breakout Biotech Stocks with Triple-Digit Profit Potential The biotech sector is projected to surge beyond $2.4 trillion by 2028 as scientists develop treatments for thousands of diseases. The team behind a new ramp on the Harlem River Drive has been recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies New York (ACEC NY) with a Diamond Award as part of the 2021 New York Engineering Excellence Awards. Parsons Corporation announced today that the company’s work on New York City’s RFK Bridge – the Harlem River Drive North Connector Ramp – was honored. Parsons served as the design lead on the project working with Judlau Contracting, Inc. The project was carried out on behalf of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, a division of the MTA, to provide a connection between the RFK Bridge to Harlem River Drive’s northbound lanes. The new ramp has decreased congestion, reduced noise pollution, eliminated 2,500 tons of CO2-equivalent per year, and improved the quality of life in neighboring East Harlem, while providing a shorter and safer route for travelers. SETH CONDELL “This prestigious award acknowledges the immense talent and dedication that went into this project,” said Seth Condell, vice president for Parsons. “Our team is proud to deliver a complex structure, designed for durability, which improves the experience for neighbors and commuters alike, and do it all ahead of schedule.  This award comes on the heels of a national Design-Build Institute of America award, which recognized the aspects of “Design-Build Done Right,” by shaving four months off of an aggressive schedule, cutting costs, and delivering excellence through the height of the pandemic.” Parsons provided design engineering and construction support services on the project. The ramp was designed to maximize durability of the structure and reduce inspection and maintenance costs, while minimizing disruption to traffic. The completed ramp opened to traffic in November 2020. ACEC NY’s Engineering Excellence Awards is an annual competition that recognizes New York engineering firms for complexity, innovation, and value to society.
